I really enjoyed your article. I don’t want to presume your intent, but it seems like you were saying the ability to move through life unaware of domestic terrorism and fascist governmental policy is in and of itself a privilege, and that privilege is tied to whiteness.
Of course, there are many facets of white privilege and in a world where all but eight countries have been colonized, I don’t think there’s any way to actually rid oneself of all the privileges that come from having white skin. But I do appreciate you being open and honest enough to share what it feels like to worry about the same things Black and BIPOC people worry about everyday.
I agree that having to be aware of these things is a form of losing privilege, and that being willing to let go of a narrative that says 'This isn’t America' is inherently beneficial. I look forward to reading more from you.
