I think you raise some really valid points here, points I’m not arguing against in the article. I am saying that for Black people this is an in community conversation, one of many that need to be had to address our own internalized racism.
There is a cultural difference between Black Americans and African Americans, mainly because we were kidnapped and colonized and you were simply colonized.
Your ancestors did not watch generations of their children beating to death or murdered because they violated some arbitrary rule like looking a white person in the eye. So, while I appreciate what you’re saying and definitely encourage you to write your own article, this is actually not your conversation either. This is a dialogue I’m having with other Black American women.
