One of the best and worst things about social media is the democratization of ideology. If you believe something, you don't have to worry about going through official channels to market your idea perfectly--you can just go on tiktok. Or YouTube. Or Facebook. Or that other one I used to use before a certain billionaire ruined it.

You get the point. Social media has created an opportunity for direct to market transmission of ideas, talents, salable goods and entertainment. Which mostly works out great for us, because without direct to market transmission, we wouldn't have Big Ideas like the natural hair movement or amazing shows like Insecure and Ziwe.

And don't even get me started on music. Megan thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Chloe and Halle, October London, Thot Squad, Gawd, Tanner Adell, Yebba, Foushee... the list goes on and on.

Where would we be without phrases like “call me, maybe?” Or “Earth is ghetto, I want to leave.”
