Thanks for engaging Noel. You make an interesting point, but the impetus of the 'war on poverty' was to permit mass incarceration, a form of de-facto re-enslavement. I don't think you can detach the concept of systemic poverty from enslavement.

But either way, the majority of poor people in this country are white (although people of color are disproportionately represented). Poor womxn are the most likely to get an abortion, regardless of race. So limiting poor women's access to abortion services will inevitably result in more white babies.

I don't know the lawmakers so I can't guarantee this is their motivation, but I know the impact of their actions will be more white babies.

Also, Arkansas, Idaho, North and South Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas have all enacted bans as of December 2021. Other states, like Ohio, where I live, have passed the law and are yet to enact it because of injunctions. An additional 15 laws have been passed to punish, charge or fine abortion providers. Six bills were enacted that allocate family planning funds to Crisis Pregnancy Centers--who knowingly give womxn false information to dissuade them from getting abortions.

All of the laws being submitted don't pass, but enough of them do to violate Roe v. Wade's undue burden clause. Thanks again for reading!
